Nikolaikirche

The Nikolaikirche is the biggest church and landmark of the city. It was built in 1165 and got its first bell jar in 1452.

Since 1999, there has been a cafe in the youth chapel of the Nikolaikirche for meetings and the Nikolaitreff for socializing and conversations over coffee and tea.

Market square and the old town hall
As early as in the Middle Ages, trade fairs and markets were held on this small and fine marketplace. The Old Town Hall that was also built in the style of Saxon Renaissance complements the market square. Today, the Town Hall houses the City History Museum. However, the Town Hall with its numerous tiny details is just as interesting and charming from the outside.

Mendelssohn House Leipzig

Bach Museum

This museum is recommended to all non-fans of classic music as well.
It demonstrates various interesting impressions about Bach’s life. It’s situated right near the Bach archive in the Bosehaus at Thomaskirchhof, right in front of the Thomaskirche. By the way, Johann Sebastian Bach lived across the street of the Bose Haus.
Café Gloria: in the Bach Museum, you can find a lovely Café Gloria. The specialty of the house is the "Bach tartine", with matured Harz cheese, trout, and mustard cherries.

Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Battle of Nations Monument)

From the 16th to the 19th of October in 1813 Leipzig was the scene of the Battle of nations. The allied armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Sweden won the crucial victory over Napoleon. The Völkerschlachtdenkmal was inaugurated in 1913 as a national monument.

Klassik Airleben

The Gewandhaus Orchester Goes Open Air performs in the popular Rosental park to celebrate the end of the concert season. The best thing is that entry to both concert evenings is free!
