Colombo Fort, close to the train station, is the centre of government and commercial activity. The area known as Pettah is a rather famous bazaar spot. There are also several Buddhist and Hindu temples in the capital city. The large Wilpattu National Park lies to the north of the capital and is home to elephants, sloth bears and leopards.
