Weather in The 3 Valleys
The 3 Valleys covers an area of 400km² (which equals to 4 territories of Paris!), so the weather conditions in different parts of the resort vary dramatically. The local climate is mostly cold, and precipitations are frequent due to high humidity. Those who seek snowy weather should come here in late January or early February when the amount of snow is the largest. But the most appropriate month for skiing is mid-December. The average daily highs usually fluctuate between 10.8°C and 4.9°C, and on the high-altitude slopes – from -2°C to -12°C.

Les Trois Vallées: sanitary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19
All foreigners who come to France must self-quarantine for 7 days. In order to avoid this obligation, please, provide a medical certificate proving a negative COVID-19 test result, that was issued within the last 3 days.
While claiming that this ski region is “a natural source of well-being”, the management team of The 3 Valleys implemented new safety measures. Developed according to the official guidelines, they apply to each resort with no exceptions. The main rule that all visitors must follow concerns wearing face masks while using the lifts. However, when guests get to the top, they are allowed to take these off.
Here is how Les Trois Vallées will be operating this season:
● Wearing a mask in all outlets, on the ski lifts, and while queueing will be compulsory for every visitor from age 11;
● The ski lifts will not reduce their capacity;
● All public places will be disinfected daily, and hand sanitizers will be placed in the ski stations;
● Guests will be able to purchase or recharge their ski passes online;
● Those who would like to buy their ski passes on site will be asked to pay contactless;
● In case of the resort closure, all-season passes will be partially refunded;
● Unused “stay” package will be fully refunded;
● A specially appointed supervisor will take care of ensuring the maintenance of all sanitary procedures;
● Guests must maintain a distance of at least 1 m from each other;
● In restaurants and bars, there will be table service only.

Les Trois Vallées: ski season 2020/2021
The area is constantly developing, and it certainly has something new to offer for this season. For instance, the traditional cabins of Plattières 3 will be replaced with a new Bouquetin chairlift, that can transport 6 people at a time. And it will take you to the top in just 2 minutes! There is also great news for the advanced sportsmen: two new black runs with an average of 33° will be opened this year. These are the Grand Couloir (towards Courchevel) and the Couloir Tournier (towards Méribel) with the Saulire summit as the starting point.

How to get to The 3 Valleys
Winter sports lovers from all over the world can get to the French Alps by any means of transport including car, train, or plane. The closest airports to this ski resort are the ones in Grenoble, Chambéry, Lyon, and Geneva. Eurostar trains to Moûtiers are also a popular way to reach this destination.
Getting there by car
There are several ways:
● If you come from the Rhône-Alpes region or Chambéry, then you should choose the highways A41 or A43. After that, follow the A43 to get to the main resorts;
● Another way to get there is by taking the N90 free autoroute. This National road leads to Moûtiers, and getting to such resorts as Courchevel, La Tania, or Brides-les-Bains from Méribel will be extremely easy.
Warning: If you are planning to travel there by car, check the weather forecast in advance. Your journey may take much longer because of the heavy traffic due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Getting there by train
To successfully reach any of the local resorts, we suggest buying a ticket on one of these trains:
● Eurostar Direct Daytime Ski Train – day trains that go there on Saturdays during the period from December to April;
● Eurostar Direct Overnight Ski Train – night trains that come and go every Friday during the period from January to April;
● Regular Daily Scheduled Trains – the ones that run constantly.
The advantages of this means of transport are that you can take all your sports equipment and a few suitcases for no additional payment. Moreover, all trains are direct, so your journey will be fast, trouble-free and quite relaxing. After your arrival at Moûtiers, you will need to order transfer services or take a taxi.
Getting there by plane
Traveling by plane is one of the fastest ways to get to The 3 Valleys. The number of airports nearby gives you a certain flexibility and freedom of choice. The closest airports to Méribel, Courchevel, and Val Thorens are:

A flight from any European capital will take you around 2 hours. However, due to unstable weather conditions in these regions, the flight times may change and there are high chances of delays.

For the bravest adrenaline junkies, The 3 Valleys resort offers an unusual activity: a chance to admire mountain views while flying more than 1 km at the speed of 62 miles per hour on a zipline. The starting point is the Bouchet ski lift in Orelle, and the finish is at the top of the Thorens lift. If you prefer something more traditional, head to Méribel. More than 3 km of toboggan runs with 28 turns are waiting for the true lovers of sledding. Val Thorens is worth mentioning as well since it has the largest run in Europe. Your ride down from the top of the Peclet Funitel will last around 40 minutes.
Or you would like to go for something risky and try diving in the Lac du Lou? Before getting this exhilarating experience, you will have to climb up a little bit. Located at an altitude of 2035 m, this lake is surrounded by extremely marvelous landscapes. During the whole adventure, you will be accompanied by an experienced guide, who will put you in the picture about the safety instructions. You will also obtain all the necessary equipment including a drysuit, waterproof gloves, and diving mask, which will protect your skin from the freezing water. Then, you will be invited to warm up with a tasty meal in the Refuge du Lou.
