Sanitary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Kitzbühel
To ensure safety for all guests and employees, the resort operates according to the Austrian Federal Government’s new Covid-19 regulations. As the national lockdown was introduced on 17.11.20, all resorts must work in a special regime until 06.12.20. During this period, skiing will be available only to professional sportsmen. After 06.12.20, there will be a number of obligatory restrictions concerning the work of ski lifts, bars, and restaurants.
The core preventive measure in Kitzbühel and other resorts is a Stopp Corona App. It was developed with the intention to break the chains of infection by tracing and then notifying the contacts of a person who reported an illness. Those who received this notification are obliged to observe self-quarantine.
All employees will be regularly tested for COVID-19. However, if you are planning an active winter vacation in Kitzbühel, we highly recommend purchasing insurance, which covers a part of your stay and treatment in case you get ill. Provided by Europäische Reiseversicherung, the Hotelstorno Plus will be a suitable option for you, as it covers stays of up to 1 calendar month, which can be really helpful in this kind of unpredicted situation.
Other measures, that will take place at the resort, are the following:
● Wearing a face mask or any other mouth and nose protection will be compulsory in all public spaces, including restaurants, ski lifts, shops, ski buses, etc.;
● Until 06.12.20, all shops, except for essential ones (food and health sector) must remain closed;
● The visitors will be asked to pay contactless (or make online purchases) whenever possible;
● The minimum physical distance in 1 m must be observed in the queuing areas and restaurants;
● Frequently touched parts of ski lifts and cable cars will be regularly cleaned and disinfected by the staff;
● The maximum number of people in one ski school group is 10;
● In the bars and restaurants, the consumption of meals is only allowed when being seated;
● The visitors who feel sick must not leave their room. In case of illness, they must inform their host and call the 24/7 Austrian health hotline 1450;
● While entering any enclosed space, the guests must register in a digital guestbook by scanning special QR codes;
● Ski buses and other public transport will operate by the new schedule;
● While on the slopes, the sportsmen can ski without face masks, however, this does not apply for team activities;
● Wearing a face mask will not be necessary for kids under 6;
● Après-ski will be available with certain limitations, which include closing time at 22:00;
● Disinfectant dispensers will be installed in all public areas.
Important: Travel advisory varies from one country to another. Please note that when coming to Austria, you should take into account not only local regulations but also those, which were adopted in your home country. Tyrol and Austria are now on the “red list” in many countries. If you come from one of the following: Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Czech Republic (but for Prague), or Poland (see the full list here), you do not have to produce a negative COVID-19 test and observe quarantine. For visitors from all other countries, these measures are mandatory.
