Ski Season

Ischgl ski resort introduces new safety measures in the light of COVID-19
All travelers are welcome to visit Ischgl/Samnaun arena this season. However, in order to provide a safe and pleasant experience, Austrian and Swiss chiefs decided to roll out new health regulations. The main protective measures are described in the resort’s guidelines, which include regulations concerning restaurants, cable cars, events, the work of staff, and visitor management. Here is a brief overview of the current set of rules:
● Each ski pass buyer will get a complimentary scarf to use it as a mask. The guests must wear it in all areas with special signage, in cable car cabins, and while riding on lifts;
● All queue areas will be rearranged to provide more space to maintain social distancing;
● Hand sanitizers will be accessible to everyone and can be found in cable cars and mountain diners;
● The cable car cabins will be disinfected several times a day with certified eco-friendly detergents;
● There will be limited admittance to all mountain restaurants, and the menus will be provided strictly in the digital form;
● To use mountain diners, the visitors will have to make a quick registration in the mobile app via the QR code;
● All staff will be tested for COVID-19 and instructed on wearing a mask while contacting with guests;
● There will be qualified Corona safety officers on the territory of the Silvester Arena, who will provide help for each visitor with health complaints;
● A Top of the Mountain opening music festival will be canceled due to the pandemic.
Skiing in Ischgl and ski pass prices

But the main highlight of the resort is a “Smuggler’s Circuit” – a path, which crosses the Austrian/Swiss border and was used by smugglers as a corridor for trading goods in the past. How to get to Silvretta Arena
The ski resorts of Ischgl and Samnaun have an abundance of state-of-the-art chair lifts and cable cars that will take you from the valley right to the start of any ski piste. The chair lifts have weather protection, and heated gondolas will surprise you with superior comfort. In total, this ski resort counts 45 ski lifts, the most important of which are Silvrettabahn A1, Pardatschgratbahn A2, Twinliner Samnaun L1, and Fimbabahn A3.
● Silvrettabahn is one of the three “doorways” that lead to Silvretta Arena. This cable car is windproof and can carry up to 18 people. Its final destination is Idalp, a piste located at the height of about 2,320 m above sea level.
● The Fimbabahn gondola is designed to carry 8 people at a time, efficiently transporting tourists to the same place. Among its pleasant and convenient features are heated seats and a ski lift location in the very heart of Ischgl. The journey to Idalp will take you only 15 minutes.
● The Pardatschgratbahn is one of the biggest cable cars, which can carry up to 28 passengers, transporting them to Pardatschgrat in just 8 minutes.
● Twinliner Samnaun, in its turn, is a double-deck cable car with 186 seats, which offers stunning panoramic views. Guests can enter it on both levels and get to the Alp Trida in Samnaun approximately in 6 minutes.
Good news for gourmets – there is a Panorama restaurant on the territory of Idalp. Here you can savor the best samples of international cuisine while enjoying breathtaking mountain views. The restaurant has a self-service area, sun terrace, bar, and a guest kindergarten.
Note: At the moment, all cable cars are closed and will resume operation with the start of the winter season 2020/2021.
Hiking and climbing experience
Those who come to Ischgl can’t help but notice that this place is perfect for active sports. Even though the vast majority of tourists come here for a skiing adventure, hiking and climbing are also on top of the list. The mountain area between Paznaun and Samnaun has a very diverse relief with mountain bike roads and running trails.
The Paznaun High Trail lies through the Silvretta Mountains, the Verwall Mountains, and the Samnaun Mountains, giving an opportunity to see all important chains of the Tyrol region. However, this is the most challenging one. Covering 120 km, it is suitable for expert mountaineers.
It is worth mentioning that, in general, these types of outdoor activities are considered “summer” sports. Due to unstable weather conditions, winter hiking may be dangerous, especially for beginners. Thus, we recommend you to go for it in summer, to always check the weather forecast beforehand and to order a guided tour, if this is your first try.
All trails are divided into “blue” (e.g. Mathias Schmid, Marathon circuit hike), “red” (a smugglers tour of Samnaun, Val Gronda), and “black”(Pezinerspitze) according to the difficulty level. “Blue” hikes are the easiest ones: the ascents are almost absent, the paths are situated close to the villages and along the forest footpaths. “Red” paths have a much higher difference in altitude, there may be a necessity to climb, and you will need some special equipment. And the “black” routes are the toughest – they have a great number of narrow paths, and you will definitely have to climb.
Visiting one of such routes as Gretspitz, the Walk of Lyrics, Adventurestage, Circular trail with Ischgl views, or Mathias Schmid trail is a must! Choose one according to your level and be ready for the new exhilarating experience. Following these routes will take you from 40 minutes to 1,5 hours.
Climbing is another way to spend an active holiday here. Alp Trida park in Milbach offers numerous opportunities for family climbing and bouldering. There are routes for all levels as well, and you can rent all the necessary equipment on site. The entrance to the park is situated right near the Flimsattelbahn N1 station. In case you want to have some rest and satisfy your hunger, there is a 'Grill & Chill' zone at your service.

What to do in Ischgl
Apart from perfectly groomed ski pistes and access to Switzerland’s shopping mecca, this town is well-known for its spectacular concert scene.
