Plage de la Conche des Baleines, Île de Ré, France

Plage de la Conche des Baleines is located in the western part of Île de Ré, an island that is connected with mainland France by almost a 3 km long bridge. It is a long, wild ocean beach with fine white sand, surrounded by dunes and pine forest. It starts at the Baleines Lighthouse (also known as Whale Lighthouse), stretches for several kilometers, and ends at the tip of Lizay.

Near the lighthouse, the coast is rocky: this is the place for shore fishing. But closer to the main entrance, the beach line is sandy with small waves. This place is ideal for families with children. Plage de la Conche des Baleines has European Certificate of Seawater Quality. Near the main entrance, swimming is supervised by lifeguards. Here is a free parking lot available. The beach is equipped with a medical emergency station and several toilets.

Near the beach, there is a restaurant serving dishes with fresh local products and seafood.

There are surfing opportunities here, as well as boat and bike rentals. Here you will find an equestrian center offering horse rides along the beach.
